Bucharest, October 17th, 2016: New perspectives for the development of tourism opened after Romania-China Business Forum, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with the Trade Department of Guangdong Province, R. P. China. During the forum, support messages were sent by Romanian and Chinese officials and a meeting between companies of the two countries took place.

Impressed by the Chinese participation in “this special event,” Mr. Aurelian Gogulescu, Vice president of CCIR- representation level and President of Prahova CCI said:

“We have had visits from the Republic of China lately, but I’m sure I’m not exaggerating by saying that this is by far not only the largest but also the most powerful and representative delegation of tourism. I think it is a very convincing signal from our Chinese partners on their willingness to develop cooperation with Romanian businessmen in tourism and for their interest in cooperation with Romania in general. ”

Romanian-Chinese business development in tourism can contribute significantly to increasing bilateral trade, and reduce trade deficit, currently estimated at EUR 2.3 billion (at the expense of Romania).

“Like many other areas, Romanian tourism needs Chinese investments, (…) for infrastructure development, for the improvement and development of ski slopes (…) and many other such ideas. I think it would be extremely welcome to encourage the development of partnerships and twinning between towns in Romania and China, which (…) could be a foundation and a solid basis for economic development in general.(…) CCIR will support all actions of this kind and all opportunities to maximize the Romanian-Chinese relations to the benefit of our country”, said Mr. Aurelian Gogulescu.

Mr. Vlad Vasiliu, Secretary of State, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Relations with the Business Environment, underlined the special impact of the event to “develop the relations with the most dynamic region in China”, saying that the current conditions are favorable for this approach, but it is necessary “to improve and simplify the regulatory framework.”

Ms. Anca Netea Paul, President of the National Tourism Authority spoke about the efforts made nationally to increase the quality and value of tourism business, adding that this year Romania managed an average increase of foreign tourists circulation by more than 18%.

Considering that since 2012, China has become the biggest spender in the world and a market with a huge potential for tourism, estimated at 165 billion USD in 2014, it was included as a “target market” in the new marketing strategy of ANT, which “organizes the procedure for reopening the tourism office in Beijing” and unlock visas for the tour operators.

H.E. Mr. Xu Feihong, Ambassador of China P.R. in Romania, referred to the business forum as an excellent platform for the development of bilateral economic relations and reiterated the proposal made by the Chinese side to build “an economic belt to the Silk Road”, an approach that involves joint consultation and will result in streamlining trade. In this context, cooperation between municipalities is very important, continued Mr. Xu Feihong, who noted that a number of 33 provinces and cities in our 2 countries are connected through partnership and twinning arrangements, which is “an effective support for economic development in general.”

” Chine has increased its confidence in Romania,” said Ms. Zhao Yufang, Senior Adviser of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, which addressed the role of business meetings backed by high-level meetings, which brought Romania the 5th place in Central and Eastern Europe in trade of Guangdong Province, with an increase of 16.6% of trade and mutual investment.

The forum continued with bilateral dialogue between Romanian companies and over 100 businessmen from Guangdong Province. The areas of interest were: tourism, construction materials, chemical industry, furniture industry, automotive, electronics, ICT, food.
