Chernivtsi (Ukraine), November 1st, 2016: The Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Romania, Ukraine and Moldova held a trilateral business forum entitled “Moldova-Romania-Ukraine: interregional and cross-border collaboration. Current Status, Trends and Perspectives “.

The event  held for two days was attended by 12 companies from Romania, 10 companies from the  Rep. Of Moldova and representatives of the business and local authorities from Ukraine. The Chamber System in Romania was represented by CCIR Vice President, Mr. Mihai Apopii, President of Neamț CCI, together with the Presidents of  Suceava and Botosani CCI.  Also present were members of the Romanian diplomatic missions in Ukraine and Moldova, the Moldovan Ambassador to Ukraine, chairmen of National Chambers of Commerce from Ukraine and Moldova.

The President of CCI of Ukraine, Mr. Ghenadiy Chizikov, particularly appreciated  “the organization of such a meeting, unprecedented in the last 20 years, given that the three parties have a lot of common topics of discussion. Moreover, Ukraine and the Rep. Of  Moldova should discuss intensively with Romania, in its capacity as a full member of the EU”. He stressed that although Ukraine is struggling with well known geopolitical issues, the country’s GDP  and economy will grow, which demonstrates the willingness of businessmen to develop and identify new partners.

In turn, the President of Moldova CCI, Mr. Sergiu Harea, welcomed the business meeting with Romania, the main partner of the Rep. Of Moldova, both in terms of exports and imports, but also with Ukraine, the 5th trading partner of the Rep. of Moldova. He stressed that “the platform for discussions in trilateral format, launched at the business forum, is primarily aimed at developing economic relations between the three states and for the active involvement of all parties in the use of EU funds available for projects of cross-border cooperation”.

CCIR message of the President, Mr. Mihai Daraban, of “unconditional support which the Romanian side, namely the CCIR, grants to the neighbors and friends, considering that organizing such events and the presence of companies from Romania is meant to strengthen the support that CCIR is giving to the  business environment in the 3 countries, “was expressed  by Mr. Mihai Apopii, CCIR Vice President. In support of these allegations, Mr. Apopii presented  the ICC National Committee Romania as a useful and efficient tool for businesses in accessing new markets in the EU as well as outside  the EU area.

In the second part of the business forum B2B meetings were held between businessmen from the three countries, while the  representatives of the National Chambers of Commerce discussed the need for greater cooperation for future projects.

The host of the forum was Chernivtsi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which received thanks and appreciation for the organization, from all participants.

This forum is a useful tool for the trilateral business environment in the three countries to strengthen trade relations and identify new partners, but also a good opportunity for exchanging know-how in cross-border projects with European funds.
