The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania was accepted in November to be part of the Open Government Plan (OGP) National Coordination Committee, coordinated at the level of the General Secretariat of the Romanian Government.

Romania’s accession to the Open Government Partnership since 2011 has highlighted the need to implement at the state level policies to promote accountability and efficiency as essential principles for good governance.

The third National Action Plan (2016-2018), the result of consultation and communication of the central government with civil society, is currently being implemented, which reaffirms Romania’s commitments to respect the basic principles of the PGI.

The policy issues addressed in the National Action Plan 2016-2018 refer to debureaucratization and increased transparency of public institutions; access to public information for citizens and the business environment; implementation of open government at local level, cooperation of local public authorities with civil society and the private environment; strengthening administrative efforts to tackle anti-corruption; increasing transparency in the public procurement system, etc.

The implementation of the set of measures foreseen in the Action Plan will have beneficial effects on the business environment, and the general framework of regulations applicable to the Romanian business environment is improved.
