Bucharest, June 14th, 2018: President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mr. Mihai Daraban, received on Thursday, June 14th, the visit of a Slovenian official delegation, led by Alojz Kovšca, President of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia.

During the event, were addressed topics such as the trade exchanges between the two partner countries, the economic areas of common interest, the labor force crisis at European level, as well as the current situation of the immigrants.

Also, an important point of the meeting was the organization, in September of this year, of the Initiative of the 3 Seas Forum in Bucharest.

Mr. Mihai Daraban pointed out the importance this forum will have in developing the local business community by signing a Collaboration Protocol with all participating states: “The key element of the 3-Seas Initiative Forum will be an economic one, CCIR being a very important platform for networking that will facilitate B2B meetings within the event. This will strengthen the bilateral economic and trade relations between all the countries involved. It is necessary to identify and implement feasible projects to be negotiated at EU level, such as freight transport on the Danube River “.

Mr. Alojz Kovšca, President of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia, stressed the opportunity to develop cooperation between the National Chambers of Commerce in the two partner countries and, at the same time, the cooperation between Slovenian and Romanian businessmen: “An effective and concrete way of collaboration between the two organizations is transmitting data on partner companies  by digitizing information. The Government of Slovenia has adopted new directives on investment legislation, precisely to facilitate investment attractiveness for the foreign business environment. Romania is considered an important trading partner for Slovenia, a field of great interest to us is that of logistics

The event was attended by several officials of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia: Dušan Štru – Secretary-General, Ms. Zofija Hafner – Secretary of Protocol, Ms. Aldijana Ahmetović – Legal Advisor. On behalf of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Romania participated Mrs. Ruxandra Ştefan, economic counselor, and from CCIR participated Mr. Lazăr Comănescu – Foreign Affairs Advisor.


According to the information provided by ONRC, 233 Slovenian companies operate on the territory of Romania, with a total subscribed capital of 20.75 million Euros. At the level of 2017, the total value of trade between Romania and Slovenia amounted to 933.9 million Euros.

In 2017, the CCIR organized, in partnership with the Slovenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Business Forum Romania – Slovenia, on the occasion of the visit of Mr. Karl Erjavec, the foreign minister of this country.
