Bucharest, March 6th, 2019: The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mr. Mihai Daraban, received on March 6th, the visit of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Saeed Bin Saeed Almatrooshi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Romania, in order to identify the development opportunities of Romanian companies in this country and to attract new foreign investments in Romania.

During this meeting, topics of common interest, such as the organization of a Romanian economic mission in the United Arab Emirates, were discussed in order to strengthen the bilateral economic relations between the two countries.

The President of CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban, welcomed the initiative of H.E. Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Saeed Bin Saeed Almatrooshi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Romania, to hold an economic mission this year in Abu Dhabi: “I am convinced that Romanian entrepreneurs are interested in investing in this country. The United Arab Emirates market can provide important business opportunities for Romanian companies interested in internationalizing their business”.

“The Federation of Arab Chambers of Commerce in the United Arab Emirates and the Ministry of Economy fully support the CCIR’s organization of an economic mission this year in Abu Dhabi. This mission is intended to be a continuation of the success achieved by organizing, last year, in Bucharest, the multisectoral economic forum in the margin of the first session of the Joint Commission for Cooperation between the Government of Romania and the United Arab Emirates Government” said H.E. Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Saeed Bin Saeed Almatrooshi.

Background

According to the information provided by ONRC, at the level of October 2018, the value of trade between Romania and the United Arab Emirates amounts to 278.75 million Euros.

The United Arab Emirates is ranked 50th by country of residence of investors with foreign participation in the share capital, the total number of emirate companies active in Romania at the beginning of January 2019 is 148, with a total subscribed share capital of 30, 51 million Euros.

On April 17, 2018, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania signed a cooperation agreement with the United Arab Emirates Federation of Trade Unions.
