Bucharest, May 5th, 2020: The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mr. Mihai Daraban, participated, on May 5th, at Cotroceni, together with representatives of the business environment, in the meeting with the President of Romania, Mr. Klaus Iohannis, to discuss the measures required to revive the economy and support the business environment.

The president of CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban, underlined the most serious problem that entrepreneurs could face in the next period: “The big problem is the sales market. Even if Romania starts to produce, the question arises whether there will be demand. We can build our offer as we see fit, even double it, but we have to ask ourselves the question of demand because otherwise we risk producing in stock. It is very possible that the lack of markets will be a fundamental critical element in everything that will happen from now on.”

“Romania has the advantage that it has not closed the whole economy. Unlike other countries where a drastic solution has been adopted and all areas of activity have been closed, in our country, where there has been a work front, for example, in the field of shipyards where products are made with a long manufacturing cycle, the activity was not been interrupted at all”, said the president of CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban.

Background:

The president of CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban, submitted for consultation a set of 73 measures proposed by CCIR together with the county Chambers of Commerce and Industry, made through a sustained consultation of the business community at national level on public policies needed to be implemented economically, financially, investment, labor market, and agriculture.
