Bucharest September 12, 2023: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), in partnership with the Commercial Service of the Embassy of the United States of America (USA) in Bucharest, organized on September 12, 2023 a presentation of the SelectUSA Program and the SelectUSA 2024 Investment Summit, managed by the US Department of Commerce.

The SelectUSA program, intended for Romanian companies interested in expanding their operations in the US market, promotes and facilitates foreign investment in the US by coordinating related federal government agencies to serve as a single point of contact for investors. SelectUSA helps investors find the information they need to make decisions, connect with the right people locally, navigate the federal regulatory system and find solutions to matters that target the US market.

“From the very beginning, it should be mentioned that Romania had an absolutely impressive presence at the previous Select USA Investment Summit. Your country ranked sixth in the world in terms of number of participants, being the largest delegation of businessmen from Europe present at the event. We can thus say that the next summit, which will take place between June 23 and 26, 2024, is in great need of Romania, of the business environment in this country. Since its inception, SelectUSA has facilitated more than $161 billion in investment, supporting more than 188,000 jobs in the United States and its territories. In 2022, approximately $5 trillion in direct investment was attracted, of which three trillion came from Europe. As new elements, we launched two programs specifically for IT&C start-ups, called Select USA Tech and Select Global Women in Tech, for companies with less than 10 years of experience on the market. We hope that next year at the Select USA Investment Summit we will exceed all the parameters recorded at this year’s edition”, said Mr. Omar Oweiss, International Investment Specialist, US Department of Commerce.

The new commercial attaché of the US Embassy in Romania, Mr. Eli Corso Phinney, was keen to point out that “The SelectUSA 2023 Investment Summit was the largest investment summit to date, with record levels of participation – over 4,900 attendees, from 83 international markets and 55 states and territories. The representatives of Romanian companies that want to expand their businesses on the American market and access the SelectUSA program prove a modern entrepreneurial spirit, and the fact that the CCIR supports them in this endeavor gives them additional chances to penetrate the American market”.

The event was also attended by representatives of Innovx – BCR, a program that provides startups with a platform to develop and expand their businesses, with a notable presence at previous editions of the Select USA Investment Summit.
