Bucharest, January 22, 2024: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR) organized, on January 22, the Romania-Vietnam Economic Forum, an event that benefited from the presence of the Prime Minister of Romania, H.E. Mr. Marcel Ciolacu, as well as that of Prime Minister R.S. Vietnam, E.S. Mr. Phạm Minh Chinh.

The Romania-Vietnam business forum represented the optimal framework for the business environments of the two countries to establish new business contacts, with over 85 companies active in various fields participating in the B2B sessions, such as: the financial – banking sector, IT&C, construction , tourism, consulting, etc.

“We are honored to organize this important forum, today, at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, probably the most important business organization in Romania. I take advantage of the presence of political decision-makers at this event to ask them to create a framework to secure employment contracts, because what is very important and what connects us a lot these days, apart from economic exchanges with R.S. Vietnam that are growing, is the need for labor in the Romanian economy. Today, we have 2,102 Vietnamese workers with regular documents, with regular contracts, who are active in the Romanian economy. In this sense, I think we need additional guarantees from both governments”, said the president of CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban.

“Romania has an indisputable competitive advantage, including through its geostrategic position as the gateway to the entire European continent. Recently, our country was admitted to Schengen with air and sea borders. This means that Constanţa Port can become the main center for Vietnamese exports to the European Union. We have invested enormously and we will continue to invest in the modernization of the Constanţa Port, but also of the river ports. That is why we are ready to offer all the necessary logistics so that, in cooperation with Vietnamese ports, we can significantly increase transport volumes for the benefit of both countries”, declared the Prime Minister of the Government of Romania, E.S. Mr. Marcel Ciolacu.

“Romania has always been close to Vietnam, especially during the difficult moments in our history, and we greatly appreciated the help received from your country, the political and economic cooperation between the two states having a history of almost 75 years. In order to boost bilateral economic relations, the mechanisms of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement must be used, and, in this sense, we need Romania so that your country can convince other European states to ratify this agreement”, said Prime Minister R.S. Vietnam, E.S. Mr. Phạm Minh Chinh.
