Bucharest, January 29, 2024: The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, Mr. Mihai Daraban, had, on January 29 this year, a meeting with the vice-president for development of Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD), Mr. Khalid Al Marzooqi. KEZAD is the largest integrated economic zone in the UAE, providing a wide range of business services, staff accommodation and industrial real estate solutions.
“Romania and the United Arab Emirates need a strong economic relationship, given the elements of common interest that can lead to economic growth on both sides. Thus, Constanța Port represents a good investment opportunity, being, at the moment, the largest multi-functional port on the Black Sea. Constanța Port can become an important logistic hub in the movement and storage of goods brought from the United Arab Emirates for the European market. The Constanța port region offers the necessary facilities for new investments, while ensuring a strategic position opening to Central and Western Europe through the Danube river corridor. As for the value of trade between the two states, at the level of October 2023 it was already 396 million euros, very close to the total amount at the end of 2022. There is certainly an important growth potential that we want let’s achieve it by developing joint projects with the Emirati side”, said the president of the CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban
“Romania is a reliable commercial partner for the United Arab Emirates, which led us to establish a direct link with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, the most important promotion vector of the business environment in your country. We can thus develop many projects in partnership with Romanian entrepreneurs, KEZAD Group being present in 12 commercial areas located in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Al Dhafra Region. We have more than 50 thousand employees and operations in 40 countries, including Turkey, India and Indonesia, and as far as the European space is concerned, we already operate in 11 ports. At the moment, 611 Emirati companies are active in Romania, and the value of direct investments, at the end of 2022, was 469 million euros. Through the business contacts we are establishing today, we want to improve these figures and develop a long-term economic relationship with Romania”, said KEZAD’s vice president for development, Mr. Khalid Al Marzooqi.
