Bucharest, March 28, 2024: The President of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR), Mr. Mihai Daraban, had, on March 28 of this year, an official meeting with the President of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services, Mr. Vincent Subilia. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Francophonie Business Forum, an event organized by the Government of Romania, the International Organization of Francophonie (OIF) and the CCIR.

“Today’s meeting had as topics of discussion two very important topics both for entrepreneurs from the two states, and for the positioning of Romania and Switzerland at the international level, within the commercial organizations they belong to. Thus, even if the total value of trade between Romania and Switzerland is appreciable and, at the same time, increasing from year to year, together with the president Vincent Subilia we managed to identify new business opportunities for the business environment so that this trend be preserved in the future. Regarding international cooperation, we determined that the involvement of the two chambers in the activity of the World Chamber Federation (WCF) and Eurochambers must be focused on a standardization of the way the European chambers operate in order to become more compatible and, at the same time, more adapted to the new challenges expressed in the current geopolitical context. A minimal directive of the European Commission is absolutely necessary to regulate the activity of the chambers of commerce”, said the president of the CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban.

“Chambers of Commerce play a crucial role in promoting economic growth and development in different communities around the world, and cooperation is extremely important to overcoming major global challenges. We must work as a united business community to promote economic inclusion, international collaboration and sustainability. This is why today’s meeting with the CCIR president represented a unique opportunity for me to clearly understand the point of view of the chambers of commerce in Eastern Europe. As a member of the WCF General Council and the Eurochambres Board of Directors, I declare myself, as of today, a supporter of the CCIR initiatives”, said the president of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services, Mr. Vincent Subilia.
