Bucharest, May 3rd: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania and the Embassy of Mexico in Bucharest organized the economic seminar “Mexico – A New Horizon for Romanian Companies” at the CCIR Business Center, on Wednesday, May, 3rd. The purpose of the seminar was to promote the Mexican market and the investment opportunities that this market has for the Romanian companies.
In the opening of the event H.E. the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mexico, Mr. José Arturo Trejo Nava thanked the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania for the opportunity to talk to Romanian companies about Mexico. “The purpose of this presentation is to give you real insight of the Mexican market. We are a modern economy and an open country and we are able to move on. Our potential is enormous, both in attracting investment and in our trading partner. (…) Mexico is the third largest country in Latin America, after Brazil and Argentina. It is a diversified country in terms of population and is a power in the field of mining. (…) We are the second largest economy in Latin America and ranked 15th in the world, with an expanded domestic market and PPP per person is around $ 18,430″ said H.S. Mr. José Arturo Trejo Nava.
The Economic Counselor and the manager of ProMexico’s Milan, the Mexican government agency responsible for promoting bilateral relations, Mr. Oscar Camacho spoke about the investment opportunities offered by Mexico: “I am here to convince you that we can develop mixed societies among our countries because we would like to use your country as a platform to get closer to Europe and the East. We can combine our labor markets and develop a strong link between our countries. One of the sectors in which Romania is very dynamic is the automotive industry. You can imagine the opportunities we can have if we are a joint venture. Mexico has a high technical capacity and makes it possible to carry out various processes. For example, it produces about 3-4 million vehicles and exports about 3 million vehicles, is the second to export to the US and is the fourth largest producer in the world”.
From CCIR, Mr. Virgil Goagă, the Director of External Relations, said that “Mexico is a country with a modern industry but, at the same time, it keeps its traditions.” Mir. Goaga argued that the CCIR’s desideratum is to promote the economy and the market in Mexico among the Romanian companies.
