AGRO Piteşti International Fair – platform for agricultural development

Bucharest, May 4th: The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mr. Mihai Daraban, participated on Thursday, May, 4th, at the opening of AGRO Piteşti Agricultural Equipment Fair, second edition, organized by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture Argeş. Within the fair, during May 4th-7th, agricultural machinery, equipment and accessories are displayed, as well as traditional agri-food products.
The President of CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban, stressed the importance of the agricultural sector for our country’s economy as a branch in which “access to European funds is the easiest”. At the same time, Mr. Mihai Daraban stressed that the size of the AGRO Pitești fair grew larger than the previous year and reminded the importance of the Indagra fair held at Romexpo, which “has become the largest trade fair in all areas of activity in Southeastern Europe.”
The President of CCIR has also signaled that the 2016 figures place the value of imports far above that of exports and thus “the research – innovation sector must come with those products of greatest value made in Romania, so that things will go the right way”.
The event was also attended by the Minister of Research and Innovation, Mr. Şerban Valeca, along with representatives of the Argeşan business environment.
Background:
As an important agricultural area, Argeș County is well-known for its crops of cereals, industrial plants and fruits; Has 344,940 ha of agricultural land, of which 171,621 ha are arable land, 148,675 ha – pastures and meadows and 24,644 ha – vineyards and orchards.
There are over 23,000 farmers in the county, of which about 380 are large farmers, with land owned or leased over 50 hectares.
The venue where the event is organized – the Jupiter City Shopping Complex’s parking – the exit to the A1 Pitești-Bucharest Motorway, benefits from a generous exhibition area and is easily accessible.
