Bucharest, May 10th, 2017: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR) was the host of a working meeting between the official delegation in Peru, the CCIR board and the Romanian delegation of the Latin America and Caribbean Directorate (DALC) on Wednesday, May 10th. This meeting complements the official visitof the President of CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban, at the beginning of this year, in Peru, where high-level meetings took place.
Romania-Peru economic cooperation has multiple opportunities, viable variants of project implementation being the main theme on the official delegation agenda.
At the beginning of the meeting, the two sides reviewed the current state of trade between the two countries, pointing out that bilateral economic relations are not yet at the level of the existing potential. In this sense, Mr. Mihai Daraban reiterated the CCIR strategy to support Romanian companies to join the extra-community markets: “It is well known that statistical data do not always coincide with the real situation, I refer in particular to products manufactured by a state and which, in turn, are registered in the importing country of another origin. The determining factors for this situation are: delivery ports, FOB export system, local distributors or partnerships with multinational companies” the CCIR president underlined.
Mr. Néstor Francisco Popolizo Bardales, Deputy Minister for External Relations, Special Minister, spoke about the new strategy of the Peruvian government, which now has a “pro-business” orientation and is much more open to investment. In this context, it highlighted the main areas of interest for the Peruvian market: large infrastructure projects, food industry and services. “In order to support Romanian companies, the Peruvian Minister recommended maintaining a consensual dialogue with CCI Lima, the main vector of support for foreign companies that want to access the Peru market,” said Mr. Néstor Francisco Popolizo Bardales.
