Brussels, June 6th, 2017: The Association of European Chambers of Commerce – Eurochambres – had its 121st plenary assembly on June, 6th. The main topics on the agenda were Brexit’s economic implications on the European business environment. At the same time, the European Solidarity Body was presented and the INT program which provides the promotion of the programs for the inclusion of migrants in the labor market.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, a full member of Eurochambres, was represented at the plenary meeting by the President of CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban, member of the Eurochambres Board of Directors and Mr. Lazăr Comănescu, Counselor of the President of CCIR, Foreign Affairs.
Durin the meeting there were discussed Brexit’s costs for European companies, and several post-Brexit scenarios were presented to determine the most economically advantageous situation. The main speaker of the meeting was Mr. Pierre Gramegna, Minister of Finance of Luxembourg.

 Background:

 “Labor-Int” is a grant agreement signed between the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and the European Commission, DG Home, for two years, EUROCHAMBRES being one of the main partners of the project.

Labor-Int promotes multi-layer integration pathways, including education and training processes, to placement at work.

Labor-Int is the first such project in which trade unions, NGOs, chambers of commerce and employers need to work together to materialize the project’s objectives.

Brexit is the term used for the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union following a free vote by the British people, at the 2016 referendum. The United Kingdom is expected to leave the EU, in March 2019 at the latest.
