Bucharest, November 10th, 2017: The General Assembly of the members of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania elected on Friday, November 10th, 2017, the leading board of CCIR for the next five-year term.

Mr. Mihai Daraban, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Navigation and Agriculture Constan’a was elected head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, by unanimity of votes and by secret vote: “Our objective is to support the Romanian companies and to ensure a real dialogue between the business community and the authorities. The Cameral System has the strongest national business infrastructure and is made available to member companies across the country. We will promote in the public discourse the themes of major interest for the Romanian companies: the need for predictability of governmental decisions, simplification of legislation, reduction of bureaucracy, stimulation of investments and, extremely important – optimization of public expenditures. Without spending optimization, vital areas such as education, health, or infrastructure will not be able to benefit from the required level of public investment.”

The National Chamber’s Board is composed of 27 members, elected by the General Assembly’s decision under Art. 21 (10) of the Statute of the National Chamber.

The following members are elected to the Management Board: a) 22 members from the category of law members; b) 3 members of the associated members category; c) 1 member from the category of honorary members, d) 1 member in person of the President of the Court of International Commercial Arbitration, who is a member of the Management Board.

The Vice-Chairpersons of the Board of Directors were elected from the members of the new Board of Management:

Gheorghe Seculici – President of Arad CCI
Mihai Apopii – President of Neamț  CCI

Background:

The General Assembly has the following structure: law members, associate members and honorary members. Members of law have the right to deliberate vote and the other categories of members have consultative voting rights.
The National Chamber is a non-governmental, autonomous, nonprofit, public utility organization with legal personality that represents, supports and defends the general interests of the Romanian business community, pursuing the promotion and development of industry, commerce, services and agriculture, in accordance with the requirements of the economy market, being organized and operating under Law no. 335/2007 of the chambers of commerce of Romania.
