Bucharest, March 15th, 2023: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR) and the American-Romanian Business Council (AMRO) organized on Wednesday, March 15th, a session of B2B meetings between representatives of Romanian and American companies, to promote economic and commercial relations between the two states.

The event, organized on the sidelines of the tenth AMRO mission in Romania, brought together over 70 organizations and companies, from Romania and the United States of America (USA), which operate in different economic fields, such as: aeronautics, defense, cyberspace, industry pharmaceutical, telecommunications, IT&C, financial-banking and insurance.

“CCIR and, obviously, the entire chamber system have become over the years a traditional partner of the US Embassy in Romania and, at the same time, of AMRO, to organize economic and commercial promotion events. The USA is Romania’s strategic partner, and this is reflected in the economic results recorded at the end of each year. At the level of October 2022, the value of commercial exchanges recorded the previous year, for the same period, had already been exceeded, reaching 2.96 billion euros, compared to 2.48 billion euros. In addition, because the commercial exchanges of goods must be differentiated from those of services, the value of the latter amounted to 2.6 billion euros. At the same time, on January 1st, 2023, 8,495 American companies were active in Romania, with a share capital value of almost 900 million euros”, said the president of CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban.

“We particularly appreciate the collaboration between AMRO and CCIR especially because it is a collaboration that has demonstrated, over time, the professionalism of your organization in terms of helping and promoting the Romanian business environment for the internationalization of Romanian business by accessing new markets. In 2016, for example, only four Romanian companies were enrolled in the Select USA program, a program that annually provides support in education and entrepreneurial development for more than 10,000 SMEs and entrepreneurs. After a short discussion with the president of the CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban, the delegation made up of Romanian companies that participated in this program, in 2018, was not only the largest in Romania, but also the largest in Europe and the fifth in the world. It is a very good example that shows both the organizational capacity of the CCIR and the degree of confidence of Romanian businessmen both in your institution and in their own powers”, said AMRO CEO & Founder, Mr. Eric Stewart.
