Bucharest, June 17th, 2016:  The Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized in partnership with the Council for International Trade Promotion of China (CCPIT), Friday, June 17th, 2016, at the  CCIR Business Center – Al. I. Cuza Hall the forum under the title “Romania – China Business Opportunities “.

The event was attended by an economic delegation composed of 30 Chinese companies representing areas such as the oil industry, drilling, energy, infrastructure, rail equipment, rolling stock manufacturing, aerospace, e-commerce, finance and banking, retail, luxury products, textile industry, food industry, milk processing and agriculture. The Chinese group was led by Mr. Jiang Zengwei, President of CCPIT (National Agency for the Promotion of Trade and Investment in China).

The business forum was preceded by a session of official talks between the CCIR vice president  and president of  Mehedinti CCIA, Mr. Nicolae Tudorescu, and CCPIT Chairman, attended by Mr. Guan Gang, Counselor at the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of the  Chinese P.R in Romania.

Opening the Forum, Mr. JIANG Zengwei, President of CCPIT, spoke about how the two institutions may develop mechanisms to support the co-operation between Romania and China:

“In recent years, based on the relationship between Romania and China, we have discovered a new branch for cooperation, as we have new common goals and interests. The results obtained after the Chinese reform and the economic globalization have supported the development of the relations among the world states and now, we are able to contribute to the welfare of the global economy.” CCPIT Chairman said there are many opportunities for cooperation and that Romania has projects and products of interest for the Chinese market.

CCIR vice president and president of Mehedinti CCIA, Mr. Nicolae Tudorescu, stressed in his speech the importance of China for the global economy: ”

We are honored by your visit and we hope that the relations between CCIR, county CCI and China and the organizations in your country, to embark upon an upward trend. (…) We discussed several areas of interest to us: infrastructure, business opportunities, the natural resources we have in Romania, which can help both business communities, about the trade deficit and how can we turn Romania into an exporter and about the priority products for export to China. ”

During the forum, CCIR and CCPIT signed a cooperation agreement.

The forum ended with a B2B session.

Background

The trade between Romania and China had a value of 3, 4113 billion Euro, registered at the end of  the year 2015. Romania’s exports were worth Euro 524.78 million and imports – 2,886.52 billion Euro. On January 31st,  2016, according to the NTR, in Romania operate  4,250 companies with majority Chinese stock (according to SNIA) with a share capital of 227.6 million Euro.
