Bucharest, March 23^rd: The President of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mr. Mihai Daraban, received on Wednesday, March 23^rd, 2017, at CCIR Business Center, Mr. Oleg Kravchenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, during a working lunch.

Belarusian official was accompanied by H.E. Mr. Andrei Grikkevich, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Belarus in Romania, by Elena Shpakova, Deputy Director of the Europe Department of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus and Mrs. Irina Yakovleva, Senior Counselor of the Embassy of Belarus in Romania.

CCIR was represented by Mr. Lazăr Comănescu, the Foreign Affairs Senior Advisor of CCIR President and Mr. Virgil Goagă External Relations Manager of CCIR.

The President of CCIR presented the high guest CCIR’s role in supporting and promoting the interests of the business community in Romania, making a brief presentation of Romanian Chamber System, compared to other countries. Also, Mr. Daraban underlined full opening of the CCIR to promote economic and trade relations with Belarus, stressing the need to increase trade and balance the trade balance between the two countries.

In turn, the Belarusian official together with the Ambassador of Belarus in Romania gave a short presentation of the economic potential of Belarus, highlighting the achievements of Belarusian machine-building industry, chemical industry, optics, IT. It was also stressed the interest of the government in Minsk to develop relations with the EU to diversify markets.

During the meeting were discussed issues related to relations with third markets, especially with the Central Asian states and China.

Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Kravchenko thanked for warm reception and said that the Belarusian side is interested in the autumn, during work Romania-Belarus Intergovernmental Commission to be held a business forum with the support CCIR. To this end, the Republic of Belarus will bring a number of companies interested in developing business relations with companies from Romania.

The President of CCIR proposed that the Forum would take place during INDAGRA fair (October, 25^th-29^th, 2017), to provide a more attractive and efficient framework for participating companies, proposal was fully accepted.
