The Ambassador of the Republic of Turkmenistan to Bucharest, visiting the CCIR

Bucharest, February 13th: The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mr. Mihai Daraban, received on February 13th, the visit of H.E. Mr. Annamammet Annayev, the new Ambassador of the Republic of Turkmenistan to Bucharest, in order to identify the economic cooperation prospects between the CCIR and the Embassy of the Republic of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, topics of common interest were approached, such as the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between the CCIR and the International Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Turkmenistan in the margins of the Turkmen foreign minister’s visit to Romania in March 2019, the identification of companies interested in the Turkmen market to be subsequently invited to the four-day export meeting to be held in Bucharest during the same period as well as the CCIR support for the identification of shipping and shipbuilding companies that could participate in the Constanta Investment Forum where representatives the embassy would like to participate and make a presentation of the Caspian-Black Sea Interconnectivity Project.
“The priority objective for the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania remains the internationalization of the Romanian business by expanding the business of the Romanian entrepreneurs across Romania’s borders. I am particularly pleased with the interest of H.E. Mr. Annamammet Annayev regarding the cooperation with the CCIR to identify the opportunities for increasing the volume of trade between the two states”, said CCIR president, Mr. Mihai Daraban.
“The Republic of Turkmenistan has made real economic progress in recent years, with a focus on building cities and factories, developing the oil and gas sector, local vegetable and fruit production as well as cotton production. Thus, I believe that there are numerous construction business opportunities on the Turkmen market, the main objective of the embassy being to attract Romanian companies to Turkmenistan and to support them in creating a joint venture with the tour operators “, said H.E. Mr. Annamammet Annayev.
Background
According to the information provided by the ONRC, at the level of October 2018, the value of trade between Romania and the Republic of Turkmenistan amounts to 1.4 million Euros.
Imports from Turkmenistan consist exclusively of fuels (diesel, natural gas, and gas butane), and exports are mostly made up of electrical machinery and equipment, as well as common metals and articles thereof.
CCIR has signed two cooperation agreements with the Turkmenistan Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the BASDESH House of Commerce and the Turkmenistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
