Bucharest, May 8th, 2019: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Georgia signed a Memorandum of Understanding on May 8th, at a meeting held at the CCIR Business Center.
The visit of the Georgian delegation was occasioned by the participation in the conference “Sustainable Development of the Black Sea” organized in the margin of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two parties establishes the working framework for the development of trade relations and the directions for the implementation of the common economic objectives, taking into account the geostrategic position of the two countries both on the Black Sea, which gives the possibility to become gateways of goods from the East to the Community states.
“It is very important that the trade volume between Romania and Georgia will increase in the coming years, especially since both Black Sea neighbors have the naval infrastructure, which facilitates the transit of goods from east to Europe. We want to develop large-scale projects together, because they will, in turn, attract smaller projects, thus allowing for an increase in trade” said Mr. Mihai Daraban, President of CCIR.
“This Memorandum of Understanding meets Georgian companies willing to expand their businesses in Romania and at the same time facilitates dialogue between the business environments of the two countries. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Georgia is empowered by the authorities in Tbilisi to promote large, important projects, which gives Romanian and Georgian business environments the opportunity to collaborate efficiently” said Mrs. Nino Chikovani, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Georgia.
