The economic mission of CCIR delegation to Central Asia continues in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan, May 16th, 2019: The official delegation of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR) attended the opening of the 12th edition of the Economic Forum in Astana, Kazakhstan, on Thursday, May 16th. The event benefits of the presence of top international business experts, brought together to discuss the most important issues faced by the world economy.
The President of CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban, had a working meeting at the Romanian Embassy in Kazakhstan with officials from the Kazakh government, Mr. Magzum Mârgazaliyev – Deputy Minister, Ministry of Energy and Mr. Roman Vassilenko, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in order to identify the best solutions for facilitating the access of Romanian and Kazakh businessmen to the two markets.
“I am particularly pleased to note that there is a genuine interest of the Kazakh Government in strengthening existing economic ties through the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, which meets annually to discuss and identify opportunities to strengthen bilateral co-operation. Romanian companies active in oil and gas-related fields are extremely interested in providing specialized equipment in Kazakhstan and identifying potential partners for a sustainable joint venture”, Mr. Mihai Daraban, President of CCIR said.
The economic mission of CCIR in Central Asia is supported by the Embassy of Romania, through the direct involvement of H.E. Mr. Cezar Armeanu, Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Kazakhstan, also accredited for the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, an active supporter of the development of their cooperation with the European Union.

At the Astana Economic Forum, the President of CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban gave a speech during the session called New Silk Road: problems and solutions.
“The Revival of the Silk Road, the old network of trade routes linking the East and the West, is a unique opportunity for all countries alongside it, offering unlimited opportunities for trade and investment, being the shortest way of delivering and exchanging goods from Asia to Europe. The Black Sea Corridor East-West – Caspian Sea perfectly complements the New Silk Road, giving Central Asian economies and, through them, East and South Asia, direct access to Europe. The Black Sea Corridor East-West – Caspian Sea gives convergence of interests among the actors involved. Thus, Western investments are encouraged, necessary for the exploration of resources and energy, and the transfer of knowledge and technology in the region” said Mr. Mihai Daraban.
Update 12.00 A.M.:
The last visit on the agenda of the CCIR delegation in the economic mission to Central Asia was held at the headquarters of the Atameken Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan, where they were greeted by Mr. Myrzakhmetov Ablay Isabekovich, President of Atamaken. During the meeting, the alternatives ware discussed for better collaboration between the two countries’ business environments.
“We will inform business people in Romania about the Kazakh economy’s economic potential and the benefits that Romanian entrepreneurs interested in investing in Central Asia can benefit. They can benefit from tax incentives and benefits, as well as access to the markets of the countries of the Euro-Asian Economic Union (Kazakhstan, Russian Federation, Belarus, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan) said Mr. Mihai Draban.
Within the Economic Forum, the President of CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban, will give a speech on the importance of cooperation between the national chambers of commerce in order to increase the volume of trade.
The delegation of CCIR holds an economic tour in Central Asia on May, 12th-17th. Participation in the Astana – Kazakhstan Economic Forum will be the final point of this economic mission after the visits to Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Tajikistan.
Background
The Astana Economic Forum is being held from May 16th to 17th and will have topics on the agenda regarding the world economy, such as new ways of sustainable growth, human capital development and capacity building in cities as international centers knowledge and innovation. The events take place in the form of panel sessions, round tables, conferences and business dialogues.
