Bucharest, July 24, 2023: The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mr. Mihai Daraban, received, on July 24 this year, the visit of Mrs. Sawaka Takazaki, the new general director of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Romania, in order to continue the efforts related to the consolidation of bilateral relations between the two states.
“Japan is an important market for Romania, the Romanian consumer being familiar with established Japanese products, and here I mean household appliances, industrial machinery or cars. Also, Japan’s involvement in the naval industry is very well known, through investments in the construction works of the container terminal in the Port of Constanța, but also in the design and execution of the bridge over the Danube in Brăila. Constanța Port can also represent an investment opportunity for Japanese businessmen, as there are all the facilities for it to become a hub for Japanese goods to EU states. At the same time, there are certain advantages regarding the transit of goods through the Port of Constanța. Thus, the transit time is reduced by at least 60% for naval transports that use the Suez Canal – Port Constanța route, compared to those that have the port of Rotterdam as their destination. In addition, the potential of the Danube – Black Sea canal can be exploited, through which goods can be transited to the riparian states. As a result, we count on the support of JETRO in terms of attracting major investment projects, both in the naval domain and in other economic sectors in Romania”, said the president of the CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban.
“In my new capacity as general manager of JETRO Romania, I wanted the first contact I have in your country to be with CCIR, the most representative organization promoting the business environment. At the JETRO level, we particularly appreciate the partnership with CCIR, in the more than five years of collaboration, we are extremely satisfied with the professionalism, seriousness and involvement of your organization. Let’s not forget that during this period, this partnership was realized through a series of joint events, such as: the 2017 and 2020 editions of the “Parts Components Procurement Exhibition”, the Japanese economic missions in Romania in 2018 and the economic mission organized by the CCIR in Tokyo and Osaka in November 2019. We assure you that in the future we will also act intensively for the continuous development of commercial relations between the two states and we will capitalize on the CCIR’s position as a top representative of the common of the business community in your country”, said the general director of JETRO Romania, Mrs. Sawaka Takazaki.
