“The diplomatic dialogue between our countries dates back to the 19th century, and shared cultural values, along with the advantage of linguistic similarity, have been a strong catalyst for the ever-growing bilateral relations between the two states. From an economic point of view, Italy is a strategic commercial partner of Romania, in 2023 ranking second in both export and import. In addition, an increase in the volume of commercial exchanges can be observed starting from 2020, when they totaled 13 billion euros, in 2023 this value will reach 20 billion euros. The CCIR reiterates its openness to joint projects and initiatives aimed at developing and further strengthening the existing bilateral ties between Romania and Italy”, said the general secretary of the CCIR, Mr. Ovidiu Silaghi.

The Ambassador of Italy in Romania, H.S. Mr. Alfredo Maria Durante Mangoni, emphasized the fact that the close ties between Italy and Romania are based on mutual respect, as well as strong collaboration. “The Italian companies present in Romania bring more creativity and inventiveness, thus facilitating a sustainable dialogue between the business environments of the two states”.

The study on the evolution of the Italian economic presence in Romania in the period 2013-2023, presented by Mr. Levente Szasz, professor at the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, reveals the fact that the Italian companies present in our country have a significant impact on the Romanian economy, approximately 1 .5% of the local workforce is directly employed by Italian companies.
