Bucharest, June 17, 2025: The Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR) continues to facilitate and consolidate the strategic partnership with the Republic of Korea in the defense industry sector, by mediating new investment opportunities and bilateral collaborations.
Thus, following the visit made by CCIR President Mr. Mihai Daraban to Seoul during June 10-12, 2025, a Korean delegation consisting of representatives from some of the most powerful companies in the defense industry from this country, led by Mr. Byungro Choi, Vice President of the Korea Defense Industry Association (KDIA), made a visit to the National Institute for Aerospace Research and Development “Elie Carafoli” (INCAS).
The visit, organized at CCIR’s proposal, is part of the continuation of the National Chamber’s efforts to mediate and, at the same time, facilitate the process of identifying and selecting Romanian industries and companies that will be involved in subcontracting a complex series of works and operations that Korean investors intend to implement in Romania in the defense industry. Additionally, the role assumed by CCIR is to ensure a sustained and adequate pace regarding the process of issuing the necessary permits to fulfill the proposed investment schedule.
Last but not least, today’s meeting held at INCAS also has a preparatory character for the Romania-Korea Defense Industry Day economic forum that will be hosted by CCIR on June 19, an event that will bring together representatives of the Romanian defense industry with their South Korean counterparts, thus facilitating the development of concrete and sustainable partnerships.
