The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania has identified a series of problematic aspects regarding the existing laws on the taxation of large taxpayers in Romania, consisting of excessive centralization, increased costs regarding the obtaining of documents/information for large taxpayers, unjustified length of the time for the procedure to obtain certain documents which are evidence for the participation of bidding procedures in Romania or abroad.
In this regard, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania has proposed transferring the competences regarding the control of large taxpayers to local tax authorities, and the formation of an experts’ organism which may create a voluntary compliance legal framework, based on an efficient and transparent decision-making process, which should take into consideration the degree of risk assigned to a taxpayer in the broader frame of the compliance risk management.
