The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania launched on Wednesday, May 18th, the study regarding the perceptions of the business environment over the economy. The study was commissioned by CCIR and realized by TNS Romania on a representative national sample of 500 companies through all types of companies, covering the whole country.

Besides the high level of taxes and fees, which appears constantly as a main problem for the business environment, the study contains other pressing matters: bureaucracy is a heavy burden over the companies. And it also appears as obvious a certain crisis of the workforce in Romania, the qualified personnel is the main problem of the business environment.

 

The results of the study:

  • Thus, reducing taxes (49%), reducing bureaucracy (14%), facilitating the contraction of European funds (9%) and reducing the VAT/simplifying the procedures of VAT returning (9%) are the main economic measures that could lead to an improvement of the economic activity for the companies in Romania.
  • The lack of qualified personnel (increasing with 9pp compared to 2015) and the competitiveness on the market (increased by 8pp) are the following problems which the economic agents are confronted with.
  • 44% of the respondents perceive corruption in the public administration lower than 2 years ago.
  • Also, 64% of the companies’ representatives appreciate the activity of the National Anticorruption Direction (increasing compared to 2015).
  • The interaction with the state’s institutions is perceived as time consuming for approximately half of the respondents (48%), a percentage slightly higher than the one in 2015.
