Bucharest, February 12th: President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mr. Mihai Daraban, received on February 12th the visit of H.S. Mr. Goran Poleksić – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Montenegro to Romania, in order to strengthen the bilateral economic relations between the two states.
During the meeting, topics of common interest, such as infrastructure development in Montenegro and Romania, and implicitly the tourism sector, were addressed. At the same time, the importance of the shipbuilding industry was discussed, Romania having several shipyards, both on the Black Sea and on the Danube River.
“The tourism sector is an important component in the Montenegrin economy and this can represent a good opportunity for economic cooperation by opening a direct air link between the two countries. (…) I believe that the current level of trade could be much more developed, as the figures we currently do not reflect the categories of goods that are exported from Romania through third countries, “said CCIR President, Mr. Mihai Daraban.
“I especially appreciate the political cooperation between Romania and Montenegro and I wish for stronger development of the economic cooperation. As the statistics show, the number of Romanian tourists visiting Montenegro annually reaches 30,000 people per year, most of them traveling individually. In this regard, we are considering more infrastructure investments to achieve a better connection between the two countries “, E.S. Mister. Goran Poleksić.
At the same time, H.S. Mr. Goran Poleksić launched an invitation to CCIR representatives to hold a business forum together in the margins of the upcoming Montenegrin Prime Minister’s visit to Romania.
