Bucharest, April 11th: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), in partnership with the Tunisian Embassy in Romania, organized the Romania-Tunisia Business Forum on Thursday to strengthen the bilateral economic relations between the two states . The delegation of Tunisian businessmen was headed by Mr. Hatem Ferjani, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tunisia.

A Memorandum of Understanding between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania and the Tunisian Union of Industry, Commerce and Crafts – UTICA, was signed at the event in the presence of the Romanian and Tunisian government officials.

Counselor of the President of CCIR on International Affairs and President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Prahova, Aurelian Gogulescu, expressed confidence about the business. “Tunisia is a very important partner for Romania in North Africa. But if we refer to bilateral trade, we believe that the current level of trade between Tunisia and our country is far below its potential, and in the future the areas of activity can be expanded and diversified. The areas we should focus on are: agriculture, infrastructure, transport, communications and tourism, “said Mr. Aurelian Gogulescu.

“In 2019, there are 55 years of economic relations between Romania and Tunisia, during which the economic exchanges between the two states have risen steadily. I am convinced that there is enormous potential for these relationships to grow even further. In 1995, Tunisia concluded an economic partnership with the European Union, a partnership on which the relationship with Romania is based. In addition, Tunisia can become a hub for Romanian companies wishing to export services, goods or know-how to Africa. At the same time, Romania and Tunisia can expand together in a partnership on the markets of Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East, “Mr. Hatem Ferjani, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tunisia.

At the Business Forum, they held presentations: Ms. Delia Botan, Marketing Director – Romexpo, Ms. Safa Jennene, CEPEX Director – Rotterdam and Mr. Abdelbasset Ghanmi Chairman of the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency. The Romanian and Tunisian companies participated at the end of the event at a B2B meeting.
