Drobeta Turnu-Severin, July 23rd 2019: Mehedinţi Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (CCIA Mehedinţi), in partnership with the National Authority for Initial Dual Training in Romania (ANPFPISD), organized a press conference on Tuesday, July 23rd, on signing the collaboration protocol between the two institutions.

In the context of the real workforce needs of Romanian companies, for which dual-vocational education represents a solution for the medium and long-term solution of the lack of qualified staff, the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the National Authority for Initial Vocational Training Dual System in Romania have signed a collaboration protocol that aims to develop projects at local, regional and national level in order to improve the dual system training and certification system.

“The labor market leads to an acute shortage of qualified staff. It is well-known for the migration of skilled workers; in addition, generational exchanges do not bring about a sufficient number of staff, especially in technical fields. Certainly, firms have bigger problems. Even though these trades have become increasingly paid, there are still not enough qualified staff. Thus, a certain mentality that still persists in parents and children needs to be changed: that a better living means having higher education and, possibly, doing office works with a laptop in front “, said Nicolae Tudorescu, president of CCIA Mehedinţi

“The signing of this protocol is part of the strategy of the National Authority to open eight Regional Offices in partnership with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the immediate objectives being to get closer to businessmen, to promote the development strategy, to identify the human resource and to promote opportunities for the business environment. For students and parents the assurance that learning a job and having a well-paid job at the age of majority is an extra chance, “said Gabriel Bratu, president of the National Authority for Dual-Training Vocational Training in Romania.

The debate has benefited from the participation of representatives of a broad spectrum of institutions with an impact on the development of dual professional education, such as : Ms. Alina Teis – deputy, member of the Commission for Education, Science, Youth and Sport, Chamber of Deputies, Ms. Renata Nanciu – Vice-President, Mehedinţi County Council, Alin Tomoescu – general school inspector of Mehedinţi County School Inspectorate, Mrs. Păsat Mirela – Secretary, City Hall Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Mrs. Ponea Monica Iuliana – dual education school inspector, Mehedinţi County School Inspectorate
