Bucharest, October 27, 2022: The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mr. Mihai Daraban, on Thursday, October 27, had a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Vladimir Bolea, in order to identify the optimal solutions for the development of the agri-food sector in the two states. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Indagra 2022 fair, the largest profile event in Southeast Europe.
“At the end of last year, the volume of commercial transactions between Romania and the Republic of Moldova increased exponentially, exceeding two billion euros, which is certainly an effect of the Association and Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union, signed in 2014 The war of aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, a conflict that takes place on the borders of Romania and Moldova, is an additional reason for the relations between the two states to be strengthened even more and thus to speed up the accession process of the Republic of Moldova to European union. From the point of view of the agricultural sector, Romania and the Republic of Moldova have similar problems, namely: the low degree of association of producers and the lack of processing lines for raw materials from this economic sector. Certainly, the two states must carry out joint projects to transform these disadvantages into market opportunities”, said the president of the CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban.
“The Republic of Moldova and Romania urgently need a joint promotion strategy that will generate sustainable market opportunities for Romanian and Moldovan producers. Obviously, the business environment in the Republic of Moldova is very open in terms of collaboration with Romanian entrepreneurs, especially since this way they can enter the European Union market more easily. The current geopolitical context makes the Republic of Moldova orient itself even more strongly towards the European market and, implicitly, towards Romania. Also, events like the Indagra fair must represent the basis of a more intense collaboration between Romexpo and Moldexpo, as pivots for promoting products from the two states”, declared the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Vladimir Bolea.
