Paris, December 21, 2022: The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mr. Mihai Daraban, was re-elected as a member of the General Council of the World Federation of Chambers of Commerce (WCF), within the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), following the vote exercised by representatives of chambers of commerce from over 100 countries. Thus, Romania will be represented, for the 2023-2025 mandate, in the most important governing body of the world organization of chambers of commerce.
The WCF General Council promotes the role of chambers of commerce as intermediaries between business and authorities, as well as between companies and the general public. The Council provides assistance in the creation of chambers of commerce and the strengthening of existing chambers, particularly in developing countries and emerging economies. At the same time, the General Council encourages cooperation between chamber organizations around the world, with the aim of improving the services provided by them.
“The vote of support received from the chambers of commerce of over 100 WCF member states is a recognition of the efforts of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania in promoting a global economy and free trade. In the previous mandate at WCF, we focused our work on what it means to create new jobs, sustainable development, as well as improving living standards. Obviously, these lines of action will also be found in my new mandate. In addition, obtaining such an important portfolio, as a representative of the chamber system in Romania, is a confirmation of the fact that the efforts made in supporting the Romanian business environment in general and in terms of the internationalization of domestic business, in particular, are not they were in vain and, more than that, they enjoy recognition at the international level”, said the president of the CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban.
