Oradea, September 14, 2023: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bihor (CCI Bihor), with the support of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), the Commercial Service of the Embassy of the United States of America (USA) in Bucharest and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI ) for Romania and Moldova, organized on September 14, the conference “The best practices in the field of cyber security in the U.S. – threats, trends and solutions”.

As technology evolves, cyber attackers develop new methods and tools to exploit vulnerabilities in computer systems. Most attacks aim at stealing personal or banking data, defrauding financial transactions or cyber blackmail (ransomware). At the same time, many cyber attacks are possible due to negligence in implementing adequate cyber security measures. Thus, companies that do not sufficiently protect their digital infrastructure become easy targets for attackers. In this context, the business environment in Romania must have a well-designed plan of measures to prevent such attacks.

“We are honored to be the host of this event with a theme of interest for the business environment, especially in the context where digitization is a priority for all companies, regardless of size or field of activity. Addressing cyber security is a must, and the presence of specialists with extensive experience in the field, willing to share the best advice, is an opportunity for all participants in the debate. We would like to thank the partners involved in this event, the specialists as well as those present”, said the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bihor, Mr. Ioan Micula.

According to the FBI specialists, in the last 12 years, the number of the partnerships between FBI and private sector has grown exponentially, which has made the exchange of information much easier and effective. For the FBI, this exchange of information is essential to be able to determine concretely whether it is a local, regional, or international attack. As far as Romania is concerned, all our actions are in collaboration with the Romanian authorities, when we talk about protecting state institutions. However, we need an equally good collaboration with private companies to be able to prevent any attempt at economic espionage in this way.
