Bucharest, October 18, 2023: The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mr. Mihai Daraban, received on October 18, the official visit of a delegation belonging to the Commercial Service of the Embassy of the United States of America (USA) in Romania, led by Mr. Eli Corso Phinney, commercial attache, visiting the National Chamber for the first time.
During this meeting, optimal solutions for attracting new American investments in Romania were identified, as well as ways in which the two states can get involved in large-scale joint economic projects.
“Not long ago, I returned from an economic mission that I carried out in the USA, and what surprised me in an extremely pleasant way was the desire of American companies to get even more involved in Romanian market, which is an important sign of the confidence of the American business environment in the business opportunities that our country offers. Certainly, the Romanian economy needs important investments, big names to open production lines here. Romania’s geographical position should not be overlooked either, with its opening to the Black Sea and access to the Danube River, with the help of which goods can be transported to many countries in Europe. Constanța Port can represent a business opportunity for American companies, especially in the context in which it took over the activity of the six-seven Ukrainian ports closed due to the war, and in terms of surface area it is in fourth place in Europe. In fact, durring the economic mission in the US, I managed, together with the representatives of the American Romanian Business Council (AMRO), to establish some direct lines regarding a common platform for the reconstruction of Ukraine, when the conflict ends”, the president stated. CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban.
“We are pleased that CCIR is a partner in several projects with the U.S. Commercial Service in Romania, including the Select USA Program, which in Romania has seen significant success, but also in the events organized on the sidelines of the Indagra agricultural trade show in Bucharest. The U.S. Commercial Service is interested in a country-wide approach to pinpoint business opportunities for American companies. Thus, we hope to participate in outreach events thoughout Romania in the coming year. We will also will continue to support Romania’s desire for a strong business climate and the stengthening of bilateral commercial ties”, said Mr. Eli Corso Phinney, commercial attaché of the US Embassy in Romania.
