Brussels, November 15, 2023: The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mr. Mihai Daraban, and the general secretary of CCIR, Mr. Ovidiu Silaghi, participated on November, 15th this year, at the Eurochambres General Assembly, on the occasion of the elections of the president and vice-presidents of Eurochambres.

On the sidelines of the Eurochambres General Assembly, the CCIR delegation, led by the president of the CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban had a series of meetings with presidents of Chambers of Commerce from countries such as: Turkey, Serbia, Republic of Moldova, Georgia, Poland and Ukraine.

The topics of discussion during these meetings focused on the development of relations between business communities with partner countries and the consolidation of joint economic and support projects in a period of global crisis.

Asked about this topic, the president of the CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban stated: “We want to continue the involvement of Romania and the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in optimizing the activity of Eurochambres and also of the World Chambers Federation for the benefit of our business community. At the same time, the current situation demands more than ever that we join ranks.”

Background:

During the Eurochambres General Assembly, Mr. Vladimír Dlouhý was re-elected as President of Eurochambres, for the 2024-2025 term. The following were elected as vice president: Mr. Wouter Van Gulck, Director General, Chamber of Commerce of Belgium, Mr. Juho Romakkaniemi, CEO, Finnish Chamber of Commerce and Mr. Aigars Rostovskis, President of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce.
