Bucharest, May 27, 2024: The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR) signed, on May 27 of this year, a Memorandum of Understanding with the Saudi South East Europe Business Council, within the event “Romania – Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Business Session”, organized at the headquarters of the National Chamber.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two organizations was followed by a Business2Business (B2B) session attended by representatives of over 40 companies from both states, operating in various economic sectors.
“The total value of trade between Romania and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was, at the end of last year, 778 million euros, in the last five years there has been a constant increase in this indicator. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is also one of the few countries with which Romania registers an annual trade surplus. The signing of this memorandum thus becomes very important for establishing the practical framework for the development of stronger business relations, as well as the guidelines of economic cooperation at the national level. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is going through an extremely prosperous period, with large-scale projects underway, which can translate into important business opportunities for the Romanian business environment”, said the president of the CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban.
“We are very happy that we were able to sign this Memorandum of Understanding with CCIR, the most important organization promoting the business environment in Romania. There is already a strong economic relationship between the two states, but one that obviously has huge potential for development. I appreciate the fact that advisors from the Government of Romania are also present at this event, which shows very clearly the intentions of your country not only from an economic point of view, but also from the point of view of political decisions. I also appreciate the presence of very strong companies from Romania with whom we hope to open new ways of dialogue and to be able to get involved in major joint projects”, said the president of the Saudi South East Europe Business Council, Mr. Abdulrahman Al Mufarreh.
