Bucharest, September 4, 2024: The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mr. Mihai Daraban, had, on September 4 this year, an official meeting with the ambassador of the Republic of Chile in Romania, H.S. Mr. Julio Antonio Bravo Iubini, in order to identify concrete solutions for boosting bilateral economic exchanges.

“There are many common points in the economic development of the two states over time. We are talking about diversified, export-oriented economies that have recently undergone major reforms in an attempt to modernize and stimulate sustainable development. In addition, in 2002, Chile concluded an association agreement with the European Union, an agreement that promotes trade, energy and raw material supply, and ecological transition. At the moment, the value of trade between Romania and Chile is not very high, but considering all the above considerations, we can develop a strong economic relationship with this state. It is very important, however, that the products coming from this state reach Romania directly and not through third parties, as is currently the case, something that could benefit entrepreneurs from both states”, said the president of the CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban.

“Economic relations between Romania and Chile began to develop more consistently in the last decades, in the context of economic reforms and the international integration of both countries. These relations have been strengthened by trade agreements and mutual diplomatic and economic initiatives. There are opportunities for collaboration in areas such as technology, infrastructure and natural resources. Romania is an important partner for Chile in Central and Eastern Europe, a partnership that we want to develop more and more in the future. In this sense, we will soon organize a trip of a delegation of Chilean businessmen to come to Bucharest to establish new business contacts with their Romanian counterparts, as well as to Constanța to learn about investments and opportunities of business that can be done in the port in this area”, declared the ambassador of the Republic of Chile in Romania, E.S. Mr. Julio Antonio Bravo Iubini.
