Bucharest, October 8, 2024: The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mr. Mihai Daraban, had an official meeting with Mr. Andrew D. Lebkuecher, Economic Officer at the Embassy of the United States of America (USA) in Romania.
“We particularly appreciate the support that the USA, as a strategic partner of Romania, offers to our country regarding the accession to the OECD, a process of vital importance for the national economy. We need to regain our credibility in foreign markets, especially those in the US, Canada, Japan and South Korea. Romania has a great need to attract foreign investments, focused on the needs of the Romanian consumer. However, we also need a greater and more visible involvement of the Romanian state, especially for the adoption of international standards regarding fiscal transparency. By joining the OECD, Romania will benefit from the expertise and resources of this organization, including analyzes and recommendations regarding economic and social policies”, said the president of the CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban.
“The cooperation between the U.S. Embassy and CCIR is an important part of our bilateral economic cooperation, and we look forward to continuing to work with groups like CCIR to support American investment and continued economic growth in Romania”, said Mr. Andrew D. Lebkuecher, Economic Officer at the US Embassy in Romania.
