Istanbul, October 14, 2024: The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mr. Mihai Daraban, and the general secretary of the organization, Mr. Ovidiu Silaghi, participated, on October 14 this year, in the meeting of the General Council of the World Federation of Chambers of Commerce (WCF), a meeting that took place in Istanbul, on the sidelines of the first summit regional for Europe and Asia, which has as its central theme “A collaborative approach to climate action”.
The President of the CCIR had talks with Mr. Rifat Hisarciklioglu, the President of the WCF, Mr. Philippe Varin, the President of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Mr. Omer Bolat, the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Turkey, thus reiterating Romania’s role in consolidating stability in the region, by ensuring routes of sustainable trade between WCF member states.
“Through the membership of the World Chambers Federation, CCIR has access to a global network comprising more than 12 thousand chambers of commerce around the world, and this provides extensive opportunities for networking, exchange of best practices and, obviously, the opportunity to work directly with other similar organizations. This interaction gives us the possibility of a global integration of the opportunities offered by Romania for business and investment. As we argued in the previous discussions held in this format, Romania represents an important pivot of the world chamber system, a role that we intend to increase within the WCF. Practically, the WCF represents an international platform with the help of which the CCIR promotes the economic interests of Romania, facing a global audience”, said the president of the CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban.
