Bucharest, November 5, 2024: The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mr. Mihai Daraban, had, on November 5, an official meeting with the new ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Romania, H.E. Mr. Muhammad Arshad Jan Pathan, on the occasion of the presentation visit.

During the meeting, Mr. Mihai Daraban emphasized the importance of expanding economic cooperation in strategic sectors, with an emphasis on agriculture and the food industry, noting that Romania has a deficiency in the export of processed food products, preferring the export of raw materials. “The fair INDAGRA & INDAGRA FOOD, the biggest event of the agricultural industry and the food industry in the Eastern European region, has recently ended. In the future, it can represent a platform for Pakistani profile companies to identify potential business partners, from Romania and Europe, meaning that the two states should identify the optimal framework for exchanging information and financing joint venture projects , leveraging for example the relationship between Exim Banca Românească and the corresponding Pakistani organization. Equally, we have in mind economic fields in which Romania is performing, which the CCIR has constantly promoted in recent years, which have a significant potential in Romania’s bilateral relationship with Pakistan”, said in his intervention the president of the CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban.

“Obviously, the agricultural sector represents a business opportunity for Pakistani entrepreneurs, given the fact that we have experience in this field as well as skilled manpower. Equally, however, we are interested in other fields of cooperation with bilateral impact, our focus being the field of defense, aeronautics, and energy. Like your country, Pakistan produces nuclear energy, with a capacity of 20,000 MW, and as Romania is to become a regional energy hub both in terms of the exploitation of oil and natural gas resources, and through investments in the nuclear power plant of at Cernavodă and the modular reactors, there is an increased interest on our part to collaborate in major joint projects in this field”, said the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in Romania, E.S. Mr. Muhammad Arshad Jan Pathan.
