Bucharest, February 20, 2024: The President of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Mihai Daraban, participated, on February 20, at the official opening of the 51st edition of the Romanian Tourism Fair, organized at the Romexpo Exhibition Center.

This edition of the Romanian Tourism Fair, which will take place between February 20-23, brings to the fore the Business2Business (B2B) component, offering professionals in the field the opportunity to interact with business partners, suppliers and industry specialists.

“This edition of the Romanian Tourism Fair has registered a substantial increase compared to last year. The exhibitors’ stands occupy 12,000 square meters, compared to only 8,582 square meters at the previous edition. At the same time, we have a significant degree of internationalization, of 53%, there are 190 exhibitors, of which 100 are foreign. I would like to turn these figures around, so that more Romanian companies are present. We urgently need a promotional spot for Romania to run on TV stations abroad, as is currently happening with those from Turkey or Bulgaria, which have practically invaded Romanian television. Domestic tourism must also be promoted more. Romania needs at least 15% of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to be generated by the tourism industry”, declared the president of the CCIR, Mr. Mihai Daraban.

Present at the Romanian Tourism Fair, Mr. Bogdan-Gruia Ivan, Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, appreciated the fact that this industry can only develop through a reduction of bureaucracy in the relationship between operators and the administration, by creating a profile of both foreign and Romanian tourists in order to best meet their requirements and through campaigns to promote Romania in countries with high economic potential.
