Bucharest, September 15, 2025: The Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIR) hosted on September 15 the event “Restart Recycling – A New Beginning for the Environment,” organized by the National Environmental Guard.

The meeting marked the launch of the national campaign “ReStart Recycling” and had as its main objectives environmental protection through reduction of pollution and waste, promotion of the circular economy based on reuse, repair, and recycling, as well as cultivation of social responsibility at the level of communities and the business environment.

Mihai Daraban, President of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that “any public policy must start from perfect knowledge of the players in the field. CCIR offers, every year, very thorough analyses of the balance sheets submitted by economic agents to tax authorities, as well as the situation from the Trade Registry. From these analyses I can tell you that Romania’s economic situation is not as bad as we hear daily. We have positive dynamics both in terms of profit and regarding turnover which, for example, last year increased by 37 billion euros compared to 2023. It is true that there are companies closing down, but at the same time, we also have many new companies. Another positive trend we observed is the number of companies submitting their annual balance sheet to tax authorities, which for 2024 are nearly 50 thousand more than the previous year. There is clearly fear among businesspeople, but I consider it to be one determined more by what they see on television than by what is happening in reality.”
