BEST PRACTICES FROM THE USA ON R&D PROTECTION, TO BE APPLIED BY THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY, HEALTH CARE AND ACADEMIA

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), in cooperation with the Commercial Section of the US Embassy, has the pleasure to invite you to the conference BEST PRACTICES FROM THE USA ON R&D PROTECTION, TO BE APPLIED BY THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY, HEALTH CARE AND ACADEMIA, held on March 15, 2022, starting with 10 AM, in a hybrid format, with both physical and virtual presence, at the CCIR Business Center, Cuza Amphitheatre.

During the event, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) experts will discuss how U.S. academic institutions, law enforcement and intelligence agencies work together to protect academic research and development as well as private sector’s proprietary information from theft and misuse by foreign actors. Experts will also discuss similar considerations for healthcare providers and research institutions and offer insights and lessons learned from the U.S. Government.

The conference aims to provide valuable information to Romanian universities, private sector companies, and healthcare institutions that are considering how to mitigate risks posed by international partnerships and academic collaboration.

The presentations tackle topics such as:

  • The importance of R&D protection for sustainable economic development and global security
  • Securing Academic and Private Sector Research and Innovation (R&D)
  • Ways to protect sensitive information from companies and institutions – best practices and study cases
  • Security threats and considerations in the health care field
  • Contracts negotiating to prevent loss of intellectual property

 Access is only allowed to those who have registered and received confirmation of participation from the contact person. At the same time, access to the event will be allowed within the available seats in the conference room and in compliance with the regulations imposed by the authorities.

Important!

According to the provisions of Government Decision no. 171/2022, it is allowed to organize conferences, with the participation of people up to 30% of the maximum capacity of the space, indoors or outdoors, but not more than 100 people, in the time interval 5.00-22.00, with ensuring an area of at least 4 sqm for each person, wearing a protective mask and complying with the rules of health protection.

 Participation is only allowed for persons who are vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 virus and for whom 10 days have elapsed since the completion of the complete vaccination schedule, persons who test negative for an RT-PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 virus infectionnot older than 72 hours or the certified negative result of a rapid antigen test for SARS-CoV-2 virus infection not older than 48 hours, respectively persons between the end of the isolation period and up to 180- the day after confirmation of SARS-CoV-2 virus infection. 

Certification of vaccination, testing or cure of SARS-CoV-2 virus infection is carried out by means of digital certificates of the European Union regarding COVID, in accordance with the provisions of the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 68/2021 on the adoption of measures for the implementation of the European framework for the issuance, verification and acceptance of the European Union digital certificate on COVID to facilitate free movement during the COVID-19 pandemic, as subsequently amended and supplemented.

 In the case of individuals from countries whose authorities do not issue European Union COVID digital certificates or documents compatible with those certificates, documents shall be submitted, on paper or in electronic format, attesting to the vaccination, testing or cure of infection with SARS-CoV-2 virus in these people.
