The importance of INCOTERMS delivery terms on international trade contracts

OBJECTIVE

The seminar provides an overview and a correct understanding of the new Incoterms ® 2010 rules and their impact on International Trade. The INCOTERMS delivery terms are internationally recognized and accepted. They define the obligations, risks and costs incurred by the buyer and seller in a commercial transaction. The seminar will present not only the changes INCOTERMS ® 2010 bring, but it will also give participants practical inputs for understanding the purpose, use and application of these rules in the commercial practice, with impact on the obligations, costs and risks that the counterparties assume according to the INCOTERMS delivery terms they agreed upon.

The main objective of the seminar is to identify the two critical points in international trade delivery:

  • The moment risk is transferred from the salesman/ exporter to the buyer/ importer (distribution of risks)
  • The moment costs are transferred from the salesman/ exporter to the buyer/ importer (distribution of costs)

THE TARGET GROUP:

Staff in the following departments: export-import, salesm marketing, legal, finance and accounting, carriers, customs officials/declarants, insurers, banking personnel as well as other professionals interested in the topic (staff in banking working in international payments, guarantees, trade finance, front office etc.).

 

SEMINAR OVERVIEW:

  • Purpose and applicability of Incoterms rules
  • INCOTERMS® 2010 vs INCOTERMS 2000 (what’s new)
  • Classification of delivery conditions:

– for transportation, other than shipping: EXW, FCA, CPT, CIP, DAT, DAP, DDP

– for shipping: FAS, FOB, CFR, CIF

  • INCOTERMS® 2010 rules, risks and insurance; cargo insurance versus carrier’s liability
  • INCOTERMS® 2010 and security-related information
  • The correlation between the commercial documents provided in accordance with INCOTERMS ® 2010 and the method of payment set out in the contract (e.g., documentary letter of credit)
  • Additional information and examples regarding the correct use of INCOTERMS in commercial practice

All information will be presented in a Powerpoint document. A printed copy will be made available to all participants.

LECTURER

Gabriela Hârţescu, General Manager of the Romanian Banking Institute. Gabriela holds a PhD in Economics – with a specialization in Finance. With over 15 years in training and consultancy, Mrs. Hârţescu is an expert in international trade. Throughout her career she has held seminars for banking professionals, non-banking financial institutions and companies on: methods of payment and bank guarantees in international trade, alternative sources of financing the export-import operations, introduction to banking, banks and banking operations, payment instruments, etc. Aditionally, Gabriela gained experience in the import and export department in the private sector, with hands-on access to the practical matters concerning these operations.

 

TIME FRAME:

February 24, 2017, between 9.30 am – 4:30 pm  hours.

The course will be held by the Romanian Banking Institute and by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, at the following address: 2, Octavian Goga Bd, 3rd Floor, District 3, section 2, Bucharest.

The course will be held for a minimum group of 15 participants.

Entry fee: 320 Ron + TVA / participant

Important! 10% discount is given for two or three participants from the same organization, and 15% for a minimum of four participants from the same company
