Bucharest, July 8th 2019: The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR) Mr. Mihai Daraban, attended the official session of the XIth edition of the “Trade Diplomacy Days”, organized by the Ministry of Business, Commerce and Entrepreneurship (MMACA), at the Academy of Economic Studies.
Among the objectives of the event are the promotion of products and services in our country on foreign markets and, at the same time, the facilitation of dialogue between Romanian entrepreneurs and representatives of MMACA within Romania’s diplomatic missions abroad, economic advisers.
The CCIR president took part in the session entitled “Dialogue with business representatives”. On this occasion, Mr. Mihai Daraban urged Romanian businessmen to take advantage of the support they can get from economic advisers and to appeal without hesitation to them.
“This event is particularly useful because businessmen have the opportunity to directly talk with Romanian economic advisers, thus preparing their foreign trade actions in advance. At present, in Romania, there is a small number of strong Romanian companies in terms of turnover. There are only 48 companies with a turnover of more than 100 million Euro, 95 with a turnover of between 50 million and EUR 100 million Euro and 476 companies with a turnover of between 20 million and EUR 50 million Euro. Thus, pilot programs should be created to group these companies according to their turnover and field of activity and will be supported by authorities in promoting the business at the international level. When we talk about foreign trade, we have to show up with companies that have certain financial sustainability”, the President of CCIR said.
Minister for the Business, Commerce and Entrepreneurship Environment, Mr. Stefan Radu Oprea, said: “We need to step up our activities on several levels: consolidating exports on traditional markets, counteracting the trade deficit, identifying new extra-community target markets, diversifying exports and attracting foreign investment. Romania must continue its offensive to regain traditional markets and open up new markets. Businessmen have the opportunity to use the expertise of commercial attachés to refocus on markets such as North Africa, the Persian Gulf or East Asia. ”
“In addition to promoting direct economic and commercial interests in the business environment, we also need to consider engaging in other activities, such as assessing major economic trends and developments that can greatly influence business activity I would like to detail an aspect which could contribute to the development of the Romanian business environment, which is increasingly present in the foreign markets: it would be necessary to monitor, promote and support Romanian investments abroad, a specialized structure of Ministry of Business, Commerce, and Entrepreneurship”, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Teodor Melescanu, said.
The official session of the Commercial Diplomacy Days was structured on three important themes: the first theme focuses on “Romanian Trade Diplomacy – Evolutions, Challenges and, Perspectives”, the next topic was about “The Romanian Presidency of Romania’s Balance Sheet – Initiatives, Achievements and Opportunities in the Field business and business environment ” and, the last but not topic focus on” Dialogue with business representatives”.
