Reply to the article in “Gândul” of December 9, 2022

This press release is a right of reply following the article “The descendant of the “Emperor” at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry doubled his allowance immediately after it was real. Mihai Daraban collects from the CCIR six times more than the president Klaus Iohannis”, published on Gândul.ro, on 09.12.2022.
Bucharest, December 9, 2022: Both the CCIR and the County Chambers are not financed or subsidized by the state or local budget, all the specific duties and activities exercised and carried out by them being carried out from their own resources, in accordance with the law. Thus, the subject of the article above is mentioned irrelevantly, in this case it is an allowance assigned legally and by statute in a private entity, and the comparison with the salary of the President of Romania is inappropriate and unjustified.
Fortunately, many companies in the private sector in Romania can offer allowances at this level, depending on the economic performance achieved year after year. In the private sector, performance is rewarded. In addition, the level of allowance of the president of the CCIR is close to that assigned to any president of a national chamber in the European Union state.
Legally and by statute, the indemnity in question was approved in the General Assembly of CCIR members by the vote of 68 members vs 3 votes against. It should also be specified that, although he could also obtain income from the number as a member or president of the boards of directors where CCIR is the majority shareholder, such as Romexpo S.A., Rominvent S.A. etc., the president of the CCIR is not a quality/remuneration in/from their activities, in contrast to the existing custom when he took over the mandate at the National Chamber. Worthy of mention is also the fact regarding the situation of assuming the mandate to the current president, when the CCIR records consecutive years of deficit of the financial year, subsequently, the National Chamber has consecutively recorded, every year, including the present, a financial surplus.
We also point out the fact that according to the Chambers of Commerce Law (no. 335/2007), CCIR cannot have members from among companies, they can become members of the County Chambers, exclusively voluntarily, so the statement in the article, in the sense that the institution . is “a professional organization whose main source of income is the fees collected from the firms it owns” is false.
CCIR has all the openness for media representations, to collaborate they are constantly relying. In this sense, through the website, as well as the social media platforms, we provide useful and relevant information about the activity of the National Chamber, as well as about that of the County Chambers.
